UCL Graduation Animated Video
University College London needed an animated video to communicate the graduation ceremony process to attendees. We were tasked with creating an animation that was to be played before each graduation ceremony. The video was to inform and put at ease participants, guiding them through the correct procedure for going up on stage and receiving their degree.
We decided the overall visual tone of the animation was to be celebratory whilst also remaining clear and concise, as there was a lot of information for attendees to take onboard in a relatively short amount of time.

Storyboard
Here’s a peek at our storyboard. Each frame is accompanied by a short description outlining the animation and flow of the scene. At this stage, we often share style frames and an animatic to bring the concept to life before full production begins.
___
Character Design
Our character design is intentionally simple and stylised, built from bold shapes and colours. All characters appear in graduation gowns and mortarboards, and their abstract look allows the animation to feel inclusive and reflective of the university’s wide and diverse student body.

Style Frames

Animation
We set out to create a fluid, celebratory animation that would capture students’ attention on their exciting day. Using bright colours and dynamic motion, we presented the information in a fun and engaging way.
