Extenuating Circumstances - Explainer Video

The University of London commissioned us to create an animated explainer video for St George's University, detailing their new extenuating circumstances process. This video not only reassures students that support is available but also guides them to the new online portal for submitting Extenuating Circumstances requests.

Character Development

We were tasked with designing a variety of characters, ranging from students and tutors to individuals who are part of a medical setting.

___

Colour Palette

Taking inspiration from St George's, University of London brand colours. Overall we wanted the colour palette to feel warm, approachable, and eye-catching.

Storyboard

Here's a little look at our storyboard. We like to keep our sketches as neat and close as possible to the final artwork so there are no surprises later down the line for the client. We present these in a doc with a brief description of the animation in each shot. At this stage we might also share some style frames and an animatic as well.

___

Animation

Using the storyboard sketches, we create an initial animatic. This is a fast and adaptable way to test our ideas. If the animatic works, we know the final animation will too. We wanted to create a fluid animation, designed to ease students' minds. While also capturing their attention and presenting the information in an effective way. Here are a few gifs showing some snippets from the animatic and animation.

___

The video was delivered in both landscape and portrait formats, so we carefully planned each shot to ensure it could be adapted for either version.
